The ankle weights we use in studio are made by Equipt. We wear 1.5lbs for all classes and add a 3lb ankle weight for the finishers of BodyLines level 2.

You can of course adjust your ankle weights to what works for you - 1, 1.5lb or 2lb ankle weights work well. I recommend not going over a 2lb ankle weight on each leg - you don't want it to be too heavy that you can't get a nice lift to at least hip height for most moves for good glute engagement, be able to control your core throughout the movement and avoid too much pressure on the hip joint.
The exception to this would be the finishing section of level 2 BodyLines where we add a 3lb ankle weight on top of the 1.5lb ankle weight for a few exercises which have been specifically programmed with the heavier weight in mind for those at an intermediate or advanced fitness level. Again if you are adding the extra weight you can choose what works for you - the total weight on the leg should be 5lb or less.
